“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Galatians 6:9

When it became hard to be friendly, we didn’t try. When it became hard for us to care, we didn’t try. When it became hard to love, we didn’t try. We began seeking only our good. We forgot about our neighbours, we forgot about the poor, we forgot about the widows, and we forgot about the fatherless. We stopped trying to obtain true religion.

We have forgotten to love the way God asked us to. May He remind us how to love, remind us how to live for Him, for others and not for self. We have become what He detests most, we have become uncaring and cold, we have become hypocrites; speaking words that do not reflect our light.

There is however a Love that surpasses all understanding, a Love that continuously calls us back. A Love that overlooks all our faults and a Love that chose us even to the end.

If we were told that we had only one day to live, how would we choose to spend that day? Would we pull out our bucket lists and start at the top? Or would we finally take that holiday? What would we do?

Jesus knew when His last day was. He did not go out to seek His own pleasures; He chose to wash feet.

“Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end…After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.”

John 13:1&5

To answer the question of what we would do if we knew that we had only one day to live; I would say Behave Like a Christian. Romans 12:9-21

Let us cultivate in ourselves a spirit that continuously strives represent Christ. There will be times when it will be hard, times when it won’t make sense, but we have an example in Jesus. Jesus loved us in advance, let us emulate His great Love.

  • Where there is hatred, let us sow love
  • Where there is injury, pardon
  • Where there is doubt, faith
  • Where there is despair, hope
  • Where there is darkness, light
  • Where there is sadness, joy

Father, may we not seek to be consoled as much as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we will receive, it is in pardoning that we will be pardoned. It is in seeking your favour that we will be favoured, and it is in dying that we will receive eternal life.

“Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.”

1 Timothy 1:5 kJV

Father remind us to love, like you have loved us.

Until the next one, stay faithful!
